CAN bus tools built for engineers, not against them

We make hardware and software that turns complex CAN bus networks into data you can actually work with — reliably, openly, and on your terms.

Why we started

CAN bus networks are the backbone of modern vehicles, industrial machines, and embedded systems. But for too long, the tools available to engineers have been outdated, expensive, or locked into proprietary ecosystems that make it hard to build on top of them.

GQA was founded to change that. We set out to build CAN bus analysis tools that are accessible, extensible, and genuinely useful — so engineers can focus on solving problems instead of fighting their toolchain.

Today, that means purpose-built hardware for reliable data capture, Helix as a modern analysis platform, and the Orbit SDK so you can extend everything to fit your workflow. No vendor lock-in, no black boxes.

What we build

From purpose-built hardware to an extensible software platform — everything we make is designed for CAN bus engineers.

CAN Bus Hardware

Purpose-built CAN and CAN FD interfaces for reliable, high-performance data capture in automotive, industrial, and research environments.

Helix Software

Our desktop analysis platform for capturing, decoding, and visualising CAN bus traffic. DBC support, real-time charting, multi-channel recording, and advanced filtering.

Orbit SDK & Plugins

Extend Helix with the Orbit plugin framework. Build custom protocol decoders, data exporters, visualisations, and automated workflows.

What we value

01

Tools you can actually afford.

In an industry where a single license can cost five figures, we believe professional CAN bus tools shouldn't require a budget negotiation. Our hardware ships with everything you need, and our desktop application is free. No per-seat fees, no forced bundles — just fair pricing for real engineering work.

02

No licensing games.

No USB dongles. No node-locked seats. No teams fighting over shared licenses. If you have a Helix, you have the tool — it's that simple. We offer optional subscriptions for those who want more, but the core experience is yours from day one.

03

Runs everywhere.

Most CAN bus tools only work on Windows. Ours run on Windows, macOS, and Linux — from our browser-based analysis to the desktop application and hardware drivers. Your team shouldn't have to choose their OS based on which tools they need.

04

Security from the ground up.

We develop proprietary security analysis tools — including ART, our agentic white-box attack simulation — that continuously test for vulnerabilities before they reach production. Security isn't a checkbox for us, it's built into how we develop software and how we help our customers build safer systems.

05

Engineer-first, always.

Our tools are designed by engineers, for engineers. Build Orbit plugins in Python or TypeScript, or connect to the WebSocket API from any language — no proprietary scripting languages to learn. Programmable APIs, zero driver installs, and a plugin system that lets you build exactly what you need.

06

Built to last.

We ship industrial-grade hardware rated IP65 and tested from −20°C to +70°C. Software updates are free, forever — no annual fees or forced subscriptions. When you invest in our tools, they keep working and keep improving without surprise costs.

Based in Sweden

GQA is based in Alafors, just outside Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast. From here we develop, test, and ship our products to engineering teams worldwide.
